Prince William celebrated his 30th Birthday yesterday with a low key dinner in Prince Charles' Tetbury home Highgrove House. William has been undergoing a three day Search and Rescue course at a nearby base in Gloucestershire. It is thought the Prince invited his closest family and friends to celebrate. Prince Charles commissioned artist Nicky Philips to paint a portrait of Kate as a special gift for his eldest son and Kate reportedly gave William a watch and treated him to breakfast in bed.

Kate was spotted shopping in Tesco, Tetbury, perhaps for William's birthday meal? Many locals were disappointed to have missed catching a glimpse of the Duchess.

It is being widely reported Kate will throw William a bash tomorrow night and will make a speech. It is difficult to gauge the veracity of this rumour but if it's true there's always a possibility we will see a photo or two :)

William is 30 and I feel very old all of a sudden. ;)
I just love that pic of the Queen & Kate. I saved it to a few contacts in my phone so it pops up when the phone rings & makes me smile. Funny Hello! mag liked it too!

Royalfan - It would be lovely to see it but I do completely agree with you, the portrait was a private gift, nothing official so I doubt we will see it. However Kate will have an official one don shortly.

Hello Fiona, Kate's are light taupe. The off white are on sale while the light taupe appears to have increased in price by £10 in the last couple of weeks.

Pauline I do not think we will see the portrait to be honest at least not in the foreseeable future. Nothing schedule for the couple until July 5th but you never know when photos will surface.

What do you think of that? Is this a way of showing dissaproval for Kate? Or just a matter of protocoll? Thanks for telling us your opinion.

ReplyDeletePersonally I think, Kate is going to be the Queen Consort someday and is married to the future King, therefore I don't agree she should have to curtsy to Beatrice and Eugenie when she's not accompanied by William. It's protocol I'm afraid but I can't say I fully support it.
If you'd all like I could do a post on it including some info on the protocol and the latest updates, perhaps a discussion topic?
That is the most adorable photo of the Queen I've ever seen. Love it! Re: the new protocol, I wonder if the Palace is looking ahead to when Harry marries and trying to head off any potential controversy about precedence regarding that [unknown at present] young lady -- in other words, to get the rules straight now rather than waiting?
