The couple who are expected to travel to Edinburgh later today for a Thistle Service tomorrow where William be installed as 'knight of the Thistle' looked happy and relaxed in the royal box.

The always incredible Roger Federer beat his opponent in three sets. Speaking about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge the Swiss player said
'I think it helps when royalty shows up and other legends of the game come to see me play. I think it's inspiring. I'm happy they came to support tennis and to support me. It was very special'.

After a short break the royals returned to their seats to watch British number one Andy Murray play against Spain's David Ferrer.

Kate completed the look with her navy Prada shoes and Princess Diana's navy and sapphire earrings. Unfortunately the couple had to leave before the match ended but will no doubt be happy to hear Andy Murray won. See you all tomorrow for the thistle service!

ReplyDeleteIt certainly was a lovely surprise to see them at Wimbledon today, I've been watching the Murray match and they appear to be having a wonderful time and the McQueen dress looks *incredible* on Kate.
I don't believe it -- the Duchess is actually wearing blue shoes. The nudes got a well earned rest at last.
ReplyDeleteI never liked this outfit when it was first worn -- but I do like the way it referenced a nautical theme before, and this time serves well (unintended pun there!) in the sporting context along the lines of cricket/tennis whites.
I may be imagining this but in one of your pics the skirt looks to clear her knees, whereas last time it was long and droopy and uneven. Is it possible to alter a knitted garment? or could Kate herself have filled out a little and improved the look of the thing....
For me the best part of seeing it again is that this time she's sitting down and I don't have to look at the droopy mess of a hemline or the way the skirt emphasises Kate's lack of hips.
Oh my dear Charlotte, you are the best. When I get up in the morning (here in the US) first thing I do is get on your blog to check up on the beautiful Duchess & her handsome Prince. Today was a great surprise. Nice to see them out and about at Wimbledon. They both look so much in love & happy.

I don't like that dress too, don't like it now and didn't like the first time she wore this dress in Canada, but I think she is beautiful as always, no matter what she wears !!

I have looked at alot of pictures of the Duchess & her Prince from the past month and have not noticed anything different between them. If you look at the pictures from Wimbledon, they look very much in love. Yes they did talk to different people and William might have had his back to his Duchess but I don't see anything wrong with that when he was talking to the man next to him. And if you look at the pictures of the polo match a few weeks ago, they had their arms around each other. I could go on but I don't think I need to.
DeleteAlso if you have ever noticed that William looks right at the camera with that pisst off look. He hates the media so he does not smile much when he know's the media is taking his & his Duchess picture.
She looks great! The dress looks much better this time around, I think because she looks a lot healthier than this time last year. I'm really jealous of her hair too, looks so soft and healthy!

ReplyDeleteI also just love Roger :) I'm a huge tennis fan and enjoy playing so was immensely surprised to see William and Kate in the royal box. They met Roger afterwards and he said they were 'really friendly and very nice'.
Kate would make a wonderful patron for the sport.
For those of you who felt William and Kate looked strained/unhappy, from watching the match I can tell you they were laughing and smiling, exchanging romantic glances and jokes non stop.
Charlotte, I don't understand why people always think something is wrong with the Duchess & her Prince. I see nothing going on in the pictures I have seen today with them at Wimbledon. They were smiling, laughing and making those loving looks at each other. They talked to each other like there were nobody else around them.
DeleteThere are times when you see William not looking very happy but if you study the picture,he is looking right at the camera with a pisst off look on his face. The Duchess always has a smile on her face so I think if things were not rigth with them, how could the Duchess continue to look like she does.
We have to remember that William & the Duchess are a very private couple so it can get a little to much with the media always sticking a camera in your face.
So let's wish them well for a very happy marriage with lot's of babies...lol
Any couple in the spotlight will get a huge amount of attention put on their relationship but I do believe William and Kate are one of the very happy ones :)
DeleteCharlotte, I totally agree with you. They can't be happy all the time but that does not mean there is problems with their marriage. You can just tell how much in love they are by the photos taken of them at all these different engagements.
DeleteThey can not ignore people around them when they are sitting in the royal box or at a polo match. They muct do their royal duties and talk to everyone if possible.
They did that at the tennis match yesterday. I had to laugh at an article I just read on the internet saying that all the love has gone out of their marriage because William turned his back on his Duchess to talk to a gentleman sitting next to him. And then the Duchess turned her back on him to talk to someone beside her. Come on people just because he talk's to someone and she does the same does not mean there is problems in someones marriage. Just look at al the other pictures out there and you will see how much in love they are.
Charlotte and Pauline, I'm one of those who really want William and Kate are happy, I think that's exactly why I watch enough their behavior in each event. I believe that people have noticed a difference in their behavior, especially the events surrounding the Queen's jubilee until now, are actually doing a comparison with the appearances of them last year, where they seemed more interlocking (at least in my point of view). But can that really is not anything going wrong between them, it should not be hard to always be the focus of the media, having observed their every step, etc.. By the way, I really liked the appearance of them at Wimbledon, seemed happy and well matched with each other. Kisses!
DeleteAna Laura- As far as the the behavior between William and his beautiful Duchess during the Queen's Jubilee, we have to remember it was not the place for the two show much PDA as we would like. It was for the Queen and with William being the 2nd in line, he had to be more business like (I could not think of another word) then we have seen him before. And I am sure that the Duchess has been schooled by William as to how to hanlde all of the stuff that would be going on. I have studied alot of the photos of them and yes William at times did look very regal and maybe not his self but we have to remember again that all of the attention should be on the Queen and not William & his Duchess. I don't think we can really compare their actions toward each other from last year til now. Whole different set of facts and things going on. We still get those look of love between them, the smiles at each other and so forth. Matter of fact I was looking at some pictures of the service of Thanksgiving and noticed how William & his Duchess were exchanging those looks they give each other and the look in their eyes said it all. I could go on & on, to many to list. It is funny how different people can look a pictures and come away with different opinons. I do respect your opinon very much.

DeleteThe Queen's Jubilee and the Thistle service were not places for PDA's. The jubilee was about celebrating the Queen and the Thistle Service was an important and incredible honour for William. It would have been viewed as quite disrespectful if they had detracted attention from these events.
We only have to look at the photos from Wimbledon to see how much fun they have together, but as royals there's a time and a place publicly to show it at events such as Wimbledon.
Charlotte, have you noticed, that Kate never wears sunglasses when out in public? Hollwyood stars always take theirs off, when they are being photographed during official photocalls or red carpet walks. I've never seen her wear sunglasses after the wedding or engagements even. I wonder if she was advised that or just decided herself.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed that, I think it was a perhaps a decision (possibly made with the help of royal aides) not to wear sunglasses. To my knowledge British Royals generally don't, at least not often.

ReplyDeleteI think there has always been great chemistry between the two but at times you will see William looking pisst off. I think that is becasue of all the cameras being put in their faces. If you ever noticed that when William is looking right at the camera, he looks pisst off.
DeleteThey are very private people and when they are out doing privte things he does not want cameras around. But when they are doing their royal duty there is not much he can do about the cameras unless they get to close to his Duchess or him.
I just love the look's they give each other and the way they talk to each other like no one else is aroun them.

DeleteVery nice look! This is a dress that I really liked on the Duchess when she first wore it in Canada (although I'm sure I could never pull off a style like that) and I'm happy to see her recycle it. I agree that it's reminiscent of an older tennis dress.
