No surprises in Kate's choice of outfit today. The Duchess is wearing her white Adidas Team GB Polo shirt, navy jeans, Stuart Weitzman wedges and pearl earrings. Many of you have expressed your disappointment at the lack of variety in Kate's style throughout the Olympics. It would seem she has chosen a specific 'uniform' for the games consisting of Team GB attire, J Brand or Zara jeans, Smythe Blazer, Suart Weitzman wedges or Adidas trainers and pearl earrings. I don't anticipate we will see anything different until the closing ceremony Sunday.
I expect Kate has many stunning looks in the planning for the royal tour in September so certainly something to look forward to in terms of fashion.

As much as I would love to see Kate wearing something different, I think she has it just right with her 'Olympic outfit' as it is casual and presumably comfortable and it doesn't detract the attention away from the athletes. It also directs talk away from her attire, as we have discovered :), which I think is good because I've noticed more Kate related articles refer less about her clothes and more about the event she is attending which I like and im sure Kate does too :) Thank you for the background info Charlotte! You seem to be the only site who does this instead of it being 100% about Kate. Other websites would do well to learn from you IMO :)

I totally agree, I like her Olympics 'uniform'. It shows she's really in the spirit of the games and I think it also emphasizes that she's not just a spectator, but an ambassador for Team GB.
DeleteWhat You Said!
DeleteAnd I hadn't thought ahead to the September tour and the wardrobe "events" so there is that to look forward.
Right now, HRH is deflecting attention onto the athletes. Good on her!
I must express my disappointment too, at least she should change the jeans, it is so boring:-((((
ReplyDeleteI'm suprised, she used to be so creative!!
I didn't expect anything big but this is really saddening.
I am sure that the Palace ordered Kate to wear these outfits. We should focus on the games and Catherine is not the main attraction now.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, I think she looks pretty in these T-shirts and jeans.I love her wedges !!!
I really really like her Olympic look :)
Best, M.
I'm reading your blog for a while and I like it very much. But I'm interested in why your media is always saying Kate Middleton instead of HRH Catherine? Eve from (the little country) Austria who's althletes haven't won any medals
ReplyDeleteIt is very much an ongoing topic of conversation as to why so many refer to Kate by her maiden name. I think if her title was Princess, it would be 'Princess Kate' people would know her as but people are not adapting to knowing her as Duchess of Cambridge.
DeleteBest of luck to Austria for the rest of the games :)
I think you're right Charlotte, saying the 'Duchess of Cambridge' is a little clunkier and not as familiar to people so they'll still say Kate Middleton. I'm in the U.S. and I doubt that the majority of people here are familiar with her official title - besides us royal watchers and big Kate fans of course :)
DeleteI usually write 'Duchess Kate', 'Kate', or 'The Duchess'. I very rarely write The Duchess of Cambridge as it seems too formal. When she becomes Princess of Wales, Princess Kate will most certainly catch on (and the blog name will change to Princess Kate instead of Duchess Kate also)
DeleteWow it's weird to think of the day when she will be the Princess of Wales! And then Queen!! Lots of changes to come...hopefully not too soon though :) But looking forward to following it all!
DeleteI do love the Stuart Weitzman wedges, gorgeous shoes.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that Kate gets to be like a normal girl for a change :)
ReplyDeleteShe's still getting all the attention but at least she can blend into the crowd for once. Thanks Charlotte!
