Kate Snapped Enjoying Lunch + Poll Results

Hello Duchess Kate fans,
It was recently confirmed William and Kate had decided to join the Middletons for a family trip in the picturesque Meribel in the Three Valleys Resort. One fellow skier, Will Shields caught a snap of the family enjoying a quiet lunch in an alpine restaurant. If you look closely you will spot Kate wearing a white ski jacket and sunglasses. You can also clearly see Mike Middleton standing up wearing a check shirt.  A huge thank you to Will for sharing this photo via Twitter.

Interestingly Pippa has joined the family accompanied by university friend , Duke of Northumberland's heir George Percy. Perhaps another royal coupling on the horizon?

A closer look at Kate. If you look closely you'll see William wearing a baseball cap. I hope we see more snaps from the holiday but equally it is nice the family are enjoying their vacation without interference from the press.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you who voted in the poll 'Kate's Best Engagement Look'. With 31% of the vote, the winning outfit is the Teal LK Bennett Suit Kate wore in Leicester. I thought it an excellent choice. The peplum suit was classic, sophisticated yet modern.

Daily Mail/Alan Davidson

In second place you chose the Emilia Wickstead Coatdress Kate wore on St. Patrick's Day. With 18% of the vote, the coatdress was perfect for the occasion and again a classic piece.
The least popular look was the Reiss Trina Dress Kate wore whilst making her first speech at EACH. With just 1% of the vote, I think people felt it was a slightly outdated choice. Carole Middleton wore it previously to the races. In my opinion Kate wanted the focus on the charity and not her fashion. What were your reasons for not choosing it?

William Whisks Kate to the Alps, Why the Queen is Protective of Kate + More

Hello Duchess Kate fans,
The Cambridge's have been keeping a low profile since William's return. It is being widely reported that William has whisked Kate away on a skiing holiday to make up for missing Valentine's Day. The 29 year old Prince has allegedly booked the romantic mini break. Last year the couple cancelled a ski trip over fears it would not be appropriate in these recessionary times. Kate has been incredibly busy performing solo duties and William spent fifty days in the Falklands, so I think it's a well deserved break. A source said

"William missed Kate terrible when he was away. They spent Valentine's Day apart and he has been thinking for some time how to make it up to his wife. He want a reunion in the most romantic possible fashion. They've had some brilliant times skiing, and William decided a getaway in Switzerland, where they can wear goggles and hats and go around unnoticed, would be perfect. Kate was delighted when he eventually told her about his plans and cannot wait for the pair to spend some quality time together."

We first saw the couple publicly kiss in 2006 whilst enjoying a skiing holiday. A rather romantic coincidence.

Let's take a look at a newly built chalet to get a glimpse of the couple's accommodation and surroundings.

Swiss Chalets

The Chalet Frater is stylishly furnished to a high standard. The interior is bright and spacious. It features a patio with a built in BBQ and is only a five minute walk from the best restaurant in town.

Swiss Chalets

The open plan kitchen, dining room and living room provides a relaxing, cosy setting.

The breathtaking view faces the Grand Muveran, south of the Swiss alps. I hope the couple have a wonderful time!

I expect we will be able to gauge the veracity of these reports very soon as the couple were spotted on a flight today.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed William and Kate joined the Middletons for a skiing trip 100 miles from France.

Prince Edward has revealed her Majesty's true feelings about Kate. The Monarch has been thrilled and surprised by Kate's huge popularity and is determined to shield her. The Prince spoke candidly whilst chatting to guests at the Lord's Taverners' Umpires dinner at the Hyde Park Hilton last week.

"Catherine has taken to royal life like a duck to water. She's very gracious and the family is very proud of her. It was never going to be easy for Catherine as the whole world is watching her every move. William is very protective of her, he's grown up with the attention but Catherine hasn't. We were all thrilled to welcome Catherine into the family because she's lovely. Very charming indeed and a perfect companion for William."

Kate has grown into her role as 'Duchess of Cambridge' over the past years and it is wonderful to see it has not gone unnoticed by senior royals. Lovely words by Prince Edward.

Prince William and Duchess Kate have been immortalised as cartoon characters for a special one off Wembley edition of much loved comic Beano. Prince William is often seen at Wembley in his role as the present of the football association. The artists have drawn Kate wearing a pink suit.

Duchess Kate Takes Playful Lupo Walking While William Sleeps

Hello to you all,
I would like to begin by sincerely thanking all of you for your kind wishes, they are deeply appreciated. I couldn't help but take a moment to check in on the blog and to my amazement two sets of photos showing Kate walking Lupo have surfaced. It was revealed last week. photos of Kate walking Lupo were taken on the 15th, as to why they did not emerge until now, one can only speculate. Perhaps the publishers waited until Kate's solo engagements had finished?

Stella Pictures

Accompanied by a royal protection officer, Kate looked relaxed in light jeans and Barbour jacket. She wore her hair swept up into a ponytail.

The 30 year old appears to be wearing the Barbour Ladies Defence Jacket.. (With many thanks to Christine) The olive jacket is currently on sale reduced from £199 to £149. It is described as

"Traditional Barbour wax, in a versatile field jacket. Flattering and easy fit. Perfect for outdoor adventures. 100% cotton Barbour Tartan lining. "

Kate's very cosy looking mocca boots are the Celtic Sheepskin Cabra Boots. (With thanks to the amazing Jolene) They are £170 and available in sizes 3-9. They are described as

"These sophisticated calf height boots are made from quality British sheepskin with an attractive two tone goat - hide cuff. Created in our Cornish factory, they have lightweight, flexible soles."

A look at other pieces from the Cabra range.

Kate was also photographed 'whistle training' her beloved cocker spaniel. To view the photos please vist the Daily Mail article.

However the playful five month old was having none of it. Instead he chased a crisp packet around Kensington Gardens throughout the outing :) It is rumoured William and Kate will be using Lupo as a gun dog. Over the years the couple have regularly been spotted hunting on royal estates such as Balmoral. A friend of the Cambridge's said 'William and Kate absolutely adore him'. Speaking of William, he was reportedly sleeping after his long flight while Kate took Lupo out.

I simply adore seeing photos of Kate with Lupo. He is an adorable puppy and it's wonderful to see Kate taking such excellent care of him. Kate wore the same Barbour jacket, with dark blue skinny jeans and trainers. Love her windswept hair.

The photos of Kate walking Lupo will feature in today's edition of The Daily Express.

Kate Goes Shopping at Peter Jones After Triumphant Speech

Hello Kate fans,
We really are being quite fortunate with photos of Kate today. After the 30 year old's splendid first speech earlier today she changed into casual attire and enjoyed some retail therapy.

Kate spent over half an hour in department store Peter Jones on the Kings road before leaving with two large bags. I thought it was interesting that she carried her own bags. Despite her royal status and worldwide popularity she is very down to earth. Kate's shopping bags appeared quite full, From what we see Kate purchased lampshades. Kate has previously been spotted buying homeware there.

Inf Daily

A look at the store.

Kate appears to be wearing the Emilio Pucci double breasted jacket she wore whilst visiting GB's hockey team. It is available for £1,145.00 at Selfridge's.

Kate kept warm wearing her Aquascutum Club Check Scarf. The pretty scarf is available for £85.

Duchess Kate was last photographed wearing the scarf in August, shopping at her local Tesco.    I adored this look and have been a huge of fan of wearing skinny jeans and London Sole ballet flats ever since.

Baeur Griffin

Today's engagement marks the end of Kate's weekly appearances for a while. William will be returning from the Falklands any time now and Kate will resume life as a serviceman's wife in Anglesey. However I'm quite sure it won't be too long until we see her again, she was photographed walking Lupo last week and I expect those photos will surface sooner rather than later :)

A lovely photo of Kate playing hockey with Team GB graces the cover of Hello! this week. (I believe Kate is their cover girl on a weekly basis now :))

Hello

Should better photos surface of Kate's shopping trip I'll update the post. I'll be holding a poll on Kate's best solo engagement look in the next few days. Looking forward to seeing which outfit you choose!

Kate Makes First Speech at Patronage EACH Wearing Reiss

Duchess Kate made her first public visit to patronage East Anglia's Children's Hospices this morning to formally open the Treehouse Hospice in Ipswich. The Palace revealed Kate said 'I am deeply moved by the work of this organisation. I feel deeply moved to be involved'.

Press Association

EACH cares for children and young people with life threatening illnesses. Support is provided for families in the home or in the hospices.

'Recognised by the Duchess as a leader in their field, EACH developed a care pathway so parents can take their baby from hospital to home or go to a hospice when they need end of life care. They also run a 24/8 symptom support and advice service for children with life threatening illnesses and complex health needs'.

In March 2010 EACH launched their first major capital appeal to raise £3 million to build a new children's hospice in Ipswich. On Friday 4th March 2011 this target was achieved. The Treehouse hospice will allow staff to provide end of life and short break care, provide dedicated rooms for music therapy, hydrotherapy and play, allow families privacy and offer a peaceful environment. You can view the progression from site to building here.

In honour of the opening, EACH have opened a page where one can leave a message and donate to commemorate the occasion. I spent quite some time researching the work EACH do, their determination and hard work is truly inspiring. I am delighted Kate chose to support this worthy charity. In order to continue providing this essential service EACH needs to raise £4.8 million from public donations annually. If you wish to support the charity or donate in honour of Kate's visit please Click Here. You can also visit the Online Shop.

Kate first speech was flawless. Naturally she looked a little nervous but delivered her words with calmness and sincerity. The speech was several weeks in the planning and completely written by Kate herself. Sky's Paul Harrison described it as a 'careful and flawless delivery'. I thought mentioning she wished William was there was a lovely touch. You can watch the speech herehere and here. What did you think of Kate's first address?

The speech in full.

"First of all, I'd like to say thank you. Thank you for not only accepting me as your patron but thank you also for inviting me here today. You have all made me feel so welcome and I feel hugely honoured to be here to see this wonderful centre. I am only sorry that William can't be here today; he would love it here. A view if his - that I share - is that through teamwork, so much can be achieved. What you have all achieved here is extraordinary.

You as a community have built the Treehouse; a group of people who have made every effort to help and support each other. When I first visited the hospice in Milton, I had a pre-conceived idea as to what to expect. Far from being a clinical, depressing place for sick children, it was a home. Most importantly, it was a family home, a happy place of stability, support and care. It was a place of fun. Today I have seen again that the Treehouse is all about family and fun. For many this is a home from home, a lifeline, enabling families to live as normally as possible, during a precious period of time.

What you do is inspirational, it is a shining example of the support and the care that is delivered, not just here, but in the children's hospice movement at large, up and down the country. The feelings you inspire - feelings of love and hope - offer a chance to families to live a life they never thought could be possible. So thank you again for inviting me here today. I feel enormously proud to be part of East Anglia's Children's Hospices and to see the wonderful life changing work you do. Thank you"

After the speech Kate planted a tree to commemorate the opening of the Treehouse.

Duchess Kate wore the electric blue, double breasted, long sleeved £139 Reiss Trina dress. Unfortunately it is not available on the Reiss site as it is a past season piece from A/W 2008. Interestingly Carole Middleton was photographed wearing the dress at ascot in June 2010 (With thanks to Samantha) The Palace said the dress is Kate's and she lent it to Carole.. Notably Diana also wore blue when she made her first speech.

Kate wore the Jane Corbett fascinator Carole is wearing above to the wedding of Nicolas Van Custem.

The Duchess wore her Episode Angel shoes and carried her Stuart Weitzman suede clutch.

Kate accessorised with her diamond cross pendant, Tiffany diamonds by the yard bracelet and Diana's oval sapphire earrings which looked lovely with her dress and of course her engagement ring.

Kate is also wearing the EACH bracelet as shown above. It is available for £7. (With thanks to British Royals)

Kate Wears Green Emilia Wickstead For St. Patrick's Day

Duchess Kate visited Aldershot Barracks today to present shamrocks to forty members of the 1st Battalion Irish guards at their St Patrick's Day parade.

It is a special day for the 30 year old marking her first solo military engagement.

Upon arrival Kate was presented with shamrock.

Queen Victoria formed the regiment in April 1900 as a sign of recognition of the brave acts carried out by Irish soldiers serving the British army. The tradition of presenting shamrocks goes back to the first regimental St Patrick's Day in 1901.  The Queen Mother presented shamrocks for years and the regiment supplied pallbearers for her funeral in 2002. Below we see The Queen Mother greeting the guards mascot, the Irish wolfhound.

Kate presenting a shamrock to the adorable mascot 'Conamel' Dog handler Oliver Vaughed said 'People say Conamel shake his collar, probably as a thank you. He has been our mascot for four years and always marches in front of the regiment.'

The Duchess smiled and petted the six year old dog.

The military band played the first few bars of God Save the Queen.

Last year Prince William was made an honorary colonel of the regiment and wore his Irish guards uniform to the royal wedding. St. James' Palace said today would mark the beginning of a long-standing relationship between Duchess Kate and the Irish guards.

You can watch a video of Kate arriving and presenting shamrocks here and in the barracks here.

The event was a little too overwhelming for one soldier who passed out during the parade. The papers reported it was a reaction to seeing Kate :) Perhaps not the legitimate reason but an amusing headline all the same.

After the presentation the Duchess toured the barracks. One soldier toasted 'Your Royal Highness. On behalf of the 1st Batallion Irish Guards we welcome you and wish you a Happy St. Patrick's Day. We also thank you for the shamrocks that you have presented to us.'

Kate enjoyed a glass of Harvey's Bristol Creme sherry in the Junior's mess at the barracks.

Duchess Kate met with two little girls who very excited to meet a real princess :)

Beautiful Kate was certainly a hit with soldiers. Captain Will Jenkins said 'We are honoured and very lucky to have the Duchess here to carry out a long-standing tradition . It has always been the history. It's our heritage to be presented with a shamrock.'

Kate and the regiment pose for the official photograph.

The full sized photo.

We had all hoped Kate would wear green to mark the occasion and she didn't disappoint. Wearing a dark green coat dress by New Zealand born designer Emilia Wickstead. We see Kate's coatdress below from the 2010/2011 collection. (With thanks to Rene) Yet again we see Kate choosing a full skirt and emulating the fashion of the 40's/50's.

A look at the back of the beautiful coatdress.

Kate wore the Betty Boop hat by Lock and Co. It is available in an array of colours for £245. As you can see Kate opted for brown.

The Duchess wore her favourite Kiki McDonough green amethyst 18ct gold and diamond earrings. An ideal choice for the day. Below we look at the citrine version.

As expected Kate wore the shamrock brooch previously worn by the Queen Mother and Princess Anne during engagements with the regiment. Kate wore it last year for a military engagement.

Kate's brown suede shoes are yet to be ID'd.

What did you think of Kate's look today?

Finally I was amused to see one Kate fan got a very special treat this morning! (With thanks to @Royal_Corgi)
